A Baroque Christmas drew large audience to St. Paul’s
Back by popular demand, the Tallis Chamber Orchestra presented its Second Annual A Baroque Christmas concert to a large audience — estimated at 350 — in St.Paul’s on December 19.

Soprano Sara Westermark joined the orchestra for a performance of Handel’s recently discovered setting of the Gloria in excelsis and a collection of Olde English Carols. The concert benefited the Wilmington Good Samaritan Ministries.

Larry Cook wrote to the Tallis Chamber Orchestra “I wanted to thank you all again for all your time spent on the concert last Monday. It was fun to play in front of such a large audience. I am estimating around 350. We raised over $800 for the Good Shepherd Center.”

Frank Tutza said on Monday morning that it was “standing room only.”

Thank you Larry Cook, Phil Singleton, Sara Westermark, and everybody else who participated for bringing this music to St.Paul’s.

Phantom of the Opera at St. Paul’s was enjoyed by 250
International celebrity organist and composer Dorothy Papadakos was featured at St. Paul’s on Sunday, Oct. 30, in a showing of the classic Phantom of the Opera.
The performance drew a large audience, many in fancy dress, and prizes were awarded for the costumes that are judged to be best.

Cape Fear Chamber Players Benefit Concert was a resounding success
An estimated 150 audience members enjoyed the concert of the Cape Fear Chamber Players on September 18; this was the third annual benefit for the Cape Fear Clinic (formerly the Tileston Health Clinic), a non-profit that delivers free medical and dental care to uninsured residents of New Hanover and neighboring counties.

The enthusiastic audience contributed a total of $827.27 to the work of the clinic; according to clinic director John Devaney, that nearly covers the complete medical costs for two people for a year. Thanks to musicians Beverly Andrews, Domonique Launey, Kathy Meyer, and Robert Hoggard for providing the beautiful music and the means of benefitting the Cape Fear Clinic.
